Boards & Commissions

Projects and developments may require review and approval from multiple boards and commissions as part of the development process.

Planning Commission - The Planning Commission is a nine-member commission comprised of local community members tasked with reviewing Special Use Permits and Site Plans (Series A) for consistency with the standards and criteria set forth in the Zoning Code.

Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) - The ZBA is a five-member board of City residents responsible for the review of variances and appeals related to the Zoning Code.   

Commission on Architecture and Urban Design (CAUD) - CAUD is responsible for review of proposed modifications to designated historic properties and projects on City owned property.

Shade Tree Commission - The Shade Tree Commission is a seven member board of City residents responsible for providing the City staff and citizens with information regarding the selection and maintenance of trees and acts as an advisory body to the City Council, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. 

Waterfront Advisory Commission (WAC) - The Waterfront Advisory Committee is an advisory body to the Planning Commission which reviews projects located within the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) area for consistency with the policies and goals of the LWRP.
