Mayor David Announces Details of Recreation Park Ice Skating Rink

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) — Mayor Richard C. David on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, announced details of a temporary ice skating rink at Recreation Park, new for the 2019-2020 winter season.

“For years, residents have been asking about restoring the winter tradition of ice skating at Recreation Park,” said Mayor David. “In just a few days, the City will open a new temporary rink that will allow families to enjoy skating this holiday season and for years to come.”

Skating hours begin Friday evening, Dec. 28 at the Recreation Park Little League Field. Residents must bring their own skates and children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Skating hours are:

  • Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to dusk
  • Friday - Saturday 8: a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday 10 a.m. to dusk

The rink will be in operation until weather prohibitive.

The cost of the rink and equipment was $49,000, paid for out of the City parks budget. The rink is a 60-foot by 32-foot modular design, meaning it can be expanded in future years to meet demand.
