Tree Management Plan

The City of Binghamton’s vision to promote and preserve the urban forest and improve the management of public trees was a fundamental inspiration for this project. This vision will ensure canopy continuity, which will reduce stormwater runoff and improve aesthetic value, air quality, and public health.

Tree Planting Donation Fund

A City fund set up in 2007 allows the Department of Parks & Recreation to accept private donations to boost tree plantings.

To make a donation, mail a check made payable to “Treasurer, City of Binghamton” with “Shade Tree Fund” in the memo line to: City of Binghamton, Attn: Treasurer, 38 Hawley St, Binghamton, NY 13901.

Street Tree Planting

Trees in our city can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and water, cut heating and cooling costs for our homes and workplaces, moderate the temperature, clean the air and water, produce oxygen and provide habitat for wildlife. Trees also increase property values, enhance economic vitality of business areas, and beautify our community.
