City of Binghamton, New York

Winter Storm Update: Residents Directed To Move Vehicles Off Streets, Refuse Collection Cancelled Friday

12/18/2020

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) — Mayor Richard C. David on Thursday released the following statement:

"The City of Binghamton remains under a State of Emergency and crews are continuing work to clear streets in the aftermath of a record-setting snowstorm.

"We need community support and cooperation to get Binghamton's streets cleared.

"Residents are directed to move their vehicles off City streets. If residents do not have off-street parking, they should utilize a neighbor's driveway, public parking lot or downtown parking garage. If a vehicle is parked on-street and impeding a snow plow, it will be towed.

"Private snowplow contractors and residents using snowblowers are directed not to pile snow on City streets, in accordance with local law.

"To focus all public works resources on snowplowing, refuse collection is cancelled for Friday. Refuse collection will resume Monday and follow a holiday week schedule.
